Brașov-Ghimbav International Airport reaches 1 million passenger milestone

Brașov-Ghimbav International Airport has reached a major milestone, recording its 1 millionth passenger on August 8. The milestone passenger, Yevgen Bragaru, a dentist residing in Brașov, arrived on Wizz Air flight W4 3537 from Nuremberg, Germany.

Since its inauguration on June 15, 2023, the airport has shown consistent growth. Traffic milestones include 10,000 passengers in July 2023 and 500,000 in September 2025. Recent monthly data shows an upward trend, with passenger numbers rising from 49,200 in May to over 64,700 in July.

Wizz Air currently provides direct connections to 10 destinations across five countries, including London, Dortmund, Rome, and Warsaw. Additionally, charter flights serve tourist destinations in Turkey, Greece, Egypt, and Tunisia. The airport administration expressed confidence in its continued expansion and its goal to rank among the top airports in Romania.
