Brașov Maternity Hospital discharges four premature quadruplets
Four quadruplets, consisting of three girls and one boy, are preparing to be discharged from the Brașov Maternity Hospital after a three-month battle for survival. Born at just 26 weeks of gestation, the infants each weighed approximately 750 grams at birth.
The infants were originally born in Miercurea Ciuc and were urgently transferred to Brașov via both land and air transport, supported by SMURD and Ambulance Service crews. During their stay, the children received specialized care in a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, which included respiratory support, continuous monitoring, neurological and ophthalmological evaluations, and physiotherapy.
Through intensive medical intervention and the use of donated breast milk from the hospital's milk bank, the infants have grown from 750 grams to approximately 2.5 kilograms each. Medical teams also focused on preventing complications such as anemia, rickets, and respiratory syncytial virus infections.
