Brașov officials warn food scraps are attracting bears

Brașov City Hall has issued an appeal to residents to stop leaving food near trash bins to feed stray cats and dogs. Local officials, including Deputy Mayor Dan Ghiță, warned that these food scraps are attracting bears to urban areas.

Ghiță described bears as opportunistic animals that exploit human intentions. The city is working with various institutions to implement measures to reduce bear presence, identifying improper waste management as a primary driver of the issue. Residents are urged to avoid disposing of food scraps in locations easily accessible to wildlife.
