The Brașov Opera and Szigligeti Theatre have announced upcoming operetta productions.

Brașov Opera will present ‘A Night in Venice’ by Johann Strauss II on September 19, 2026. The production, set during a Venetian carnival, features a cast including Bede László in his debut as the Duke of Urbino and Silvia Micu as Annina. This staging focuses on the visual dynamism and costumes associated with the late 20th-century revival of Venetian carnivals.

Meanwhile, rehearsals have commenced at the Szigligeti Theatre for the Hungarian operetta ‘Baroness Lili’ by Jenő Huszka and Ferenc Martos. Directed by Mátyás Dögei, the production is scheduled to premiere on January 23, 2027, at the Transylvania Hall. The story explores themes of social change and romance following World War I, featuring a set design by Florina Bellinda Vasilatos that depicts a ruined castle.
