Brașov police officer charged with taking bribes from forestry firm

The prosecutor's office attached to the Brașov Tribunal filed an indictment against a police officer of the Brașov County Police for the crime of taking a bribe and accomplice liability in the illegal towing of an unregistered trailer. According to the General Anti‑Corruption Directorate, the officer received wood material from the administrator of a forestry‑related company in exchange for overlooking the company's failure to register a tractor‑trailer combination used on public roads. In the same case, two additional suspects entered plea agreements; one is accused of offering the bribe and inciting the illegal towing, while the other faces charges for operating the unregistered trailer and driving without a licence. The anti‑corruption police carried out the investigation under the prosecutor’s delegation orders.
