Brașov police seize 50 weapons and thousands of cartridges

Police in Brașov, Romania, conducted nearly 100 operations during the first half of 2026 to combat the illegal possession of weapons, explosives, and dangerous substances. These enforcement actions resulted in the identification of 50 offenses and the issuance of over 22 contravention sanctions totaling approximately 161,000 lei.

Authorities confiscated 50 weapons, including 15 lethal ones, noting that 22 of the seized weapons were held illegally. Additionally, police seized nearly 3,200 cartridges held in violation of legal provisions and 18 kilograms of non-compliant pyrotechnic items.

In efforts to protect public health and the environment, officers also intercepted approximately 7,500 kilograms of hazardous waste and 4,300 liters of dangerous substances. Regarding firearm licensing, nearly 400 checks were performed on permit holders, leading to the revocation of 30 weapon carry and use rights.
