Brașov school controversy and Turkish LGBTQ+ organization raids

In Romania, parents at School 25 in Brașov have requested the removal of a first-grade English teacher following reports of a criminal investigation. The investigation, opened by Brașov Police, concerns alleged inappropriate online conversations with a minor. While parents stated they respect the presumption of innocence, they expressed concerns regarding the safety and protection of their children. The Brașov County School Inspectorate confirmed that while the teacher previously worked in Predeal where similar allegations were made, the current investigation focuses on the reported acts rather than the individual's status.

In Turkey, authorities conducted nationwide raids on 38 locations targeting LGBTQ+ organizations, resulting in 162 arrests. The operations, titled ‘My Family is Safe’, involved charges including prostitution, obscenity, and drug possession. Prosecutors stated the actions aim to protect children, families, and ‘common moral values,’ alleging that certain organizations influence minors regarding sexual orientation and gender identity. Additionally, Justice Minister Akin Gurlek noted that investigations are underway regarding the funding of these associations, following reports of large sums of money being transferred from foreign public institutions.
