Brașov to host two international women's tennis tournaments
Brașov will host two international women's professional tennis tournaments at the Olimpia Sports Base. Both events are part of the ITF World Tennis Tour and feature total prize pools of $15,000 each.
The first tournament, the Țiriac Foundation Trophy, is organized by the Junior Pro Tenis Brașov Club Association and will run from August 23 to August 30. The competition will include 64 players from 17 countries in the singles qualifying rounds, with 32 advancing to the main draw. Romanian players Maria Sara Popa, Ilinca Dalina Amariei, and Bianca Bărbulescu are among the participants. Winners will receive prize money and 15 WTA ranking points.
Immediately following this, the Brașov Open (WTT W15), organized by the Romanian Tennis Federation, will take place from August 30 to September 6. This tournament follows a similar format, featuring 64 players in qualifying and 16 teams in the doubles competition. The local Brașov County authorities are supporting the events by providing the sports infrastructure free of charge.
