Brasilia to host XIV Ibero-American Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism

The XIV Ibero-American Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (BIAU) is scheduled to take place in Brasilia from November 3 to 6, 2026. Under the theme “Cuidar la Vida” (Care for Life), the event will focus on four thematic axes: water, vegetation, housing, and communities. These pillars aim to explore the intersection of architecture with the environmental, social, and cultural conditions that sustain life.

Promoted by the Spanish Government through the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda (MIVAU) since 1998, the biennial rotates every two years between different locations in Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula. This edition follows the thirteenth edition, “CLIMAS: Actions for Good Living,” which was held in Lima, Peru, in 2024.

The four-day program in Brasilia will include debates, conferences, exhibitions, awards, guided tours, and various cultural and musical activities. The selection of Brasilia as the host city is noted for its historical significance as a planned capital founded in 1960, serving as a backdrop for discussions regarding urban growth, territorial transformation, and living conditions.
