Braskem has entered the extrajudicial recovery process to restructure approximately US$ 10.9 billion in unsecured debt. The São Paulo Court has approved the processing of this request, granting a 120-day suspension of all ongoing executions and legal collection measures against the petrochemical company and its subsidiaries. Braskem now has 90 days to demonstrate that it has achieved the necessary creditor quorum for the final approval of its recovery plan.

The company stated that this process is strictly financial and will not impact its obligations to suppliers, customers, or other stakeholders. To support operations during this period, Petrobras has increased its commercial credit limit for Braskem from R$ 350 million to R$ 2.35 billion for the purchase of raw materials, backed by guarantees including an escrow account of R$ 300 million and the fiduciary assignment of receivables.

This financial restructuring occurs alongside significant legal and environmental challenges. The Federal Public Defender's Office (DPU) has filed a lawsuit against Braskem and the Union, alleging R$ 5 billion in damages to mineral assets due to the interruption of salt dome mining in Maceió. Braskem has already provisioned R$ 18 billion to address damages and reimbursements related to the environmental crisis in Maceió, having disbursed R$ 14.6 billion as of June.
