Brasília Film Festival features documentary and VR history project

The 59th Brasília Film Festival of Brazilian Cinema is featuring diverse projects ranging from documentary filmmaking to immersive technological experiences.

The documentary ‘Cacimba’ explores the lives of residents in the Quilombo do Baú. The film highlights the aesthetic beauty of the region while addressing the ongoing threats of land invasions and the pressure from powerful interests seeking to exploit lithium and granite in protected quilombola territories.

Additionally, the festival has integrated the ‘Visita 360’ project from the Federal Senate. This initiative uses virtual reality technology to allow visitors to experience the historical trajectories of significant Brazilian political figures. Through 360-degree audiovisual productions, participants can interactively explore the legacies of personalities such as Abdias Nascimento, Darcy Ribeiro, and Eunice Michiles.
