Brazil hosts diverse cultural, literary, and community festivals

Brazil is hosting a variety of cultural, literary, and community events across several regions. In Rio de Janeiro, the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR) is accepting applications for its 2026 Cultural Mediator Training Course, themed ‘Networks between Museums and Education’. Managed by the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI), the course aims to foster professional networking among 80 participants from diverse backgrounds, including those from peripheral territories.

Literary and heritage celebrations are also prominent. The Pelourinho International Literary Festival (Flipelô) in Salvador recently concluded its tenth edition, attracting over 330,000 visitors and featuring more than 500 Brazilian writers alongside international guests. In Brasília, the 6th International Book Biennial is set to open at the National Museum of the Republic, focusing on the theme ‘Reading Tomorrow’. Additionally, Rio is hosting the 2026 Cultural Heritage Week to discuss urban requalification and memory preservation.

Other regional activities include the Festival das Estações in Araxá, the Viva México festival in Osasco, and the 50th Japan Show in Campinas. Sports and music also feature in the cultural landscape, with the Santander Track&Field Run Series returning to Recife and the Festival de Lençóis scheduled for the Chapada Diamantina region.
