Brasília: Man held 95-year-old hostage before being shot by police

In Brasília, a man identified as a homeless individual invaded an apartment building in the 302 Sul area during the early hours of Tuesday. The suspect broke a glass entrance and used a fire extinguisher to force his way into multiple units.

During the incident, the man held a 95-year-old woman hostage at knifepoint. The victim's son attempted to intervene, leading to a physical struggle where the suspect used fire extinguisher powder against him. Following unsuccessful negotiations, the Military Police of the Federal District (PMDF) fired shots to neutralize the threat and protect the hostage. The suspect was struck and died at the scene. The Civil Police and the Medical Legal Institute are investigating the circumstances of the event.
