Brasília and other Brazilian cities adjust traffic for weekend cultural and sports events

Across Brazil, several cities are reorganising traffic this weekend to accommodate a range of cultural and sporting activities. In Brasília, free winter courses offered by Faculdade Anhanguera run from 27‑30 July, while multiple events—including the Corre Pro Match race, the BSB Half Marathon, the Summer Run, and a Cross Urbano competition—prompt temporary road closures and one‑way traffic on major avenues. The city also hosts a series of free concerts and festivals, such as the Na Praia Festival featuring Maria Rita and Martinho da Vila, and the Festival do Japão at Boulevard Shopping.

In Juiz de Fora, the 77th Corrida da Fogueira on 18 July blocks streets around the Bom Pastor square and Avenida Rio Branco. Blumenau’s Corrida CDL on 19 July leads to closures on several central streets and a temporary conversion of a bus lane for cars. Meanwhile, Cuiabá’s 58th Expoagro highlights a free entry concert by Wesley Safadão and a run of the musical “Wicked.” The Federal District’s cultural programme includes free capoeira workshops, concerts by Tom Zé and Metá Metá, and other free outdoor performances. These coordinated changes aim to ensure safety for participants while minimising disruption for commuters.
