Brat releases new single and music video ‘Speculum Bleed’

Louisiana-based deathgrind band Brat has released the single and music video for ‘Speculum Bleed,’ a track from their upcoming sophomore album, ‘Manslayer.’ The album is scheduled for release on September 25, 2026, via Prosthetic Records.

Vocalist Liz Selfish noted that the music video, directed by John Coglan, was inspired by the death metal band Cannibal Corpse. Selfish also highlighted a unique lyrical direction for the album, drawing storytelling inspiration from country music tropes found in artists like The Chicks, Carrie Underwood, and Miranda Lambert. She noted that such perspectives are rare in the death metal genre due to the lack of female representation in the space.

‘Manslayer’ features 17 tracks blending death metal, thrash, and hardcore. The production involved Bricktop Recording in Chicago, with Andy Nelson producing and mixing the project. The band is scheduled to perform several tour dates throughout late September and early October in cities including Memphis, Baton Rouge, Atlanta, Durham, Richmond, and Harrisburg.
