Bratislava admits leak of 17,000 phone numbers from PAAS app

The city of Bratislava has confirmed that approximately 17,000 phone numbers belonging to users of the PAAS parking application were accidentally made public. The leak occurred due to human error rather than a technical system breach or compromise.

According to city spokesperson Peter Bubla, an employee attached a metadata file containing the numbers to a GitHub issue during team communications. The data remained accessible on the public platform for over a year. The city stated that the leaked file contained only phone numbers and no other personal information that would allow the numbers to be linked to specific residents.

The PAAS application, used for managing regulated parking in Bratislava, has approximately 232,000 registered users, meaning the leak affected about seven percent of its user base. Following the discovery of the incident, the city removed the data and conducted a review of other public directories, finding no further leaks. The city administration is expected to take personnel responsibility for the error.
