Bratislava court sentences Ivo P. to 17.5 years for kidnapping and sexual violence

The Municipal Court Bratislava I has found Ivo P. guilty of kidnapping and the intoxication of a female student. He was sentenced to 17.5 years in prison for particularly serious sexual violence and the restriction of personal liberty. The court also ordered a maximum security imprisonment level, two years of protective supervision, and the seizure of his vehicle.

Additionally, the defendant must pay more than 100,000 EUR in damages to the victim, with the court leaving the possibility for further claims through a civil process. The verdict is not yet final.

The case dates back to September 2023, when the student was reported missing and later found unconscious and intoxicated near a hospital in the Petržalka district of Bratislava. Although criminal proceedings were initially halted in April 2024 due to alleged insanity, the General Prosecutor Maroš Žilinka proposed a renewal of the proceedings based on new facts regarding the defendant's mental state. The renewed trial commenced in October 2025. The defendant has denied the allegations of rape.
