Bratislava opens first 24-hour pharmacy in Ružinov
The Bratislava Self-Governing Region (BSK), in collaboration with the Faculty of Pharmacy at Comenius University in Bratislava, has launched the first 24-hour pharmacy in the capital. Located on Ružinovská Street next to the Ružinov Polyclinic, the facility operates seven days a week, including weekends and holidays.
To ensure the long-term sustainability of the service, the Bratislava Self-Governing Region will provide an annual subsidy of approximately 140,000 euros. A significant portion of these funds is allocated to the wages of pharmacists required to be on-site during night shifts. BSK Chairman Juraj Droba emphasized that the project is intended to be a permanent solution rather than a temporary trial.
The pharmacy aims to serve patients who require medication outside of standard operating hours, such as those treated at emergency departments during the night or individuals facing sudden health complications. The partnership between the regional government and the university also intends to utilize the facility for educational purposes and preventive health programs.
