Bratislava Police Urge Beachgoers to Secure Belongings and Vehicles

The Bratislava regional police department has issued a summer‑season warning to visitors of beaches, lakes and swimming areas. Officers advise the public to keep personal items such as wallets, phones, documents and cash close to the body and avoid leaving them in visible places inside cars. Vehicles should be locked, windows rolled up and valuables not left in the cabin; spare keys and documents should not be stored in glove compartments. Police also recommend using lockers or safes for larger items, parking in well‑lit spots at night and remaining vigilant against "bag snatchers". During the peak months, patrols and foot‑check patrols will be intensified at the busiest bathing sites to enhance safety.

The advisory was posted on the police’s Facebook pages in both Hungarian and Slovak, emphasizing that preventive measures can help avoid the numerous petty‑theft incidents that have occurred at swimming sites across the country since the start of the season.
