Bratislava police warn of cryptocurrency scam targeting senior
A senior woman in Bratislava was defrauded of 13,920 euros through a cryptocurrency investment scam. Fraudsters contacted her by phone, posing as individuals named Milan Zeman and Peter Struhár, and convinced her to install an application that granted them remote access to her mobile device.
Once the victim logged into her online banking, the perpetrators transferred the funds via multiple unauthorized payments. Following the incident, the Bratislava Regional Police issued a warning to the public, advising citizens to immediately terminate calls from unknown persons promising investment returns or those claiming to be bank or police employees.
Authorities emphasized that citizens should never install applications at the request of unknown callers, click on suspicious links, or provide personal banking details, addresses, or credit card information over the phone.
