Bratislava to host fifth National March for Life

The fifth National March for Life is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 20, at Freedom Square in Bratislava. The event includes a cultural program starting on Saturday, September 19, featuring both domestic and international guests.

The organizers aim to advocate for the protection of human life from conception to natural death. A primary goal in the Slovak context is the repeal of current abortion laws, which spokespeople describe as discriminatory against unborn children.

This year, the march specifically focuses on implementing three provisions from a recent constitutional amendment into national law: a total ban on surrogacy, requirements for parental consent regarding sexual education, and regulations concerning biologically determined sex. Regarding surrogacy, organizers argue that the practice is incompatible with the dignity of women and children, calling on members of the National Council to pass legislation that prohibits all agreements for birthing a child for another person.
