Bratislava tram infrastructure updates and reconstruction extensions

Tram service disruptions on Špitálska street in Bratislava have been extended until August 28 due to ongoing track reconstruction. The extension, originally scheduled to end on August 17, aims to consolidate different work phases into a single continuous closure to avoid further route changes for lines 3 and 4. Current work includes installing new platforms, paving, shelters, and adjusting traction lines. A new tram stop, Centrum, will be available upon completion.

In a separate infrastructure development, the Bratislava municipality is moving closer to modernizing the Ružinov tram line. Following the rejection of objections by the Public Procurement Office, the city expects to sign a contract worth approximately 100 million euros with a consortium led by Strabag. The project aims to increase tram speeds from 30 to 50 km/h and reduce noise levels. Construction is expected to take 30 months, with completion projected for spring 2029.
