Bratislava waterfront lease controversy sparks calls for ministerial intervention

Slovak MP Veronika Remišová has called on Transport Minister Jozef Ráž to halt a controversial lease of lucrative docking spaces along the Danube promenade in Bratislava. Remišová alleges that the lease of ten prime locations was conducted quietly and without a public tender, benefiting a company owned by the family of MP Dušan Muňko.

According to Remišová, the state-owned company Verejné prístavy purchased two small buildings in the Zimný prístav for 144,000 EUR (including VAT) on March 11, 2026. On that same day, one of the buildings was reportedly leased back to the Muňko family for 4,896 EUR per year, and ten lease agreements for highly profitable Danube docking spots were finalized. Remišová stated that the state and citizens gain nothing from this arrangement, while the Muňko family profits from the loss of public space. She is filing an interpellation to question the Minister regarding the justification for the lease terms and the preferential treatment of companies linked to political associates.
