Braunschweig Edeka supermarket to be demolished and rebuilt
Plans have been announced for the demolition and reconstruction of the Edeka supermarket in the Dibbesdorf district of Braunschweig, Germany. Demolition of the existing site is scheduled to begin in spring 2027.
The current facility, which includes an 830-square-meter sales area and a separate 300-square-meter beverage market, will be replaced by a single, larger building. The new structure is planned to encompass approximately 1,500 square meters of total space, integrating the bakery, meat, cheese, and beverage sections into one location.
Edeka-Miha Immobilien-Service GmbH, a subsidiary of Edeka Minden-Hannover, is set to lead the new construction project. However, the project remains subject to several requirements, including the establishment of necessary building rights by the city of Braunschweig and approval from the municipal administrative committee regarding the change of the project sponsor.
