Bravery highlighted by successful water rescues in Vietnam

Individual acts of bravery have been reported in Vietnam involving the rescue of people in distress.

In Huế, Senior Colonel Lê Diệt, a captain of the Waterway Traffic Police, swam into the Hương River to rescue a woman who was drowning near the Bùi Thị Xuân wharf. After reaching the victim, he and a local resident brought her to shore, where she received first aid before being transported to Huế Central Hospital. In a separate incident in the same region, two other officers provided critical assistance to a person suspected of having a stroke, helping them reach medical care during the ‘golden hour’ for emergency treatment.

In Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyễn Văn Tuân, a local business director, performed multiple attempts to rescue a woman caught in strong currents on the Saigon River. After hearing cries for help near Bạch Đằng street, Tuân navigated the fast-moving water and thick floating vegetation to locate the victim. Working alongside local authorities, he successfully brought the woman to safety, prompting her family to visit his home to express their gratitude.
