Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. withdrawn after thumb injury in game vs Marlins

Ronald Acuña Jr. was removed from the Atlanta Braves' game against the Miami Marlins in the sixth inning as a precaution because of pain in his left thumb. The Braves were leading 6‑2 when he left, and right‑fielder Eli White replaced him.

It was Acuña's third appearance since returning from a left hamstring strain that sidelined him from May 2. In the game he recorded two hits, including an RBI single that put Atlanta ahead 5‑2 in the fifth inning. The five‑time All‑Star and 2023 NL MVP is batting .252 with two home runs and a team‑leading seven steals. He had participated in the first 34 games of the season after recovering from a torn ACL suffered in May 2024, which limited him to a combined 144 games over the previous two seasons.
