Braxton Kuntz sits one shot off lead at Manitoba Open

Winnipeg golfer Braxton Kuntz is in contention at the PGA Tour Americas Manitoba Open after a strong opening round at the Elmhurst Golf and Country Club. Kuntz shot a five-under-par round, placing him just one stroke behind the leader.

American Drew Doyle holds the solo lead following a six-under-par 64. Kuntz, who secured his spot in the tournament through last-minute qualifying, is attempting to become the first Manitoban to win this tour stop since 1996. The tournament features a 156-golfer field competing for a total purse of $225,000.
