Braxton Lewis unveils cultural tourism plan for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
Braxton Lewis, the Junior Minister of Tourism for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, has presented a three-point plan to enhance cultural tourism and support creative industries. The proposals were delivered at the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s Regional Tourism Youth Congress in Georgetown, Guyana.
The first proposal, the M.A.S. Framework (Make, Absorb, Share), aims to transform the Vincy Mas carnival into a month-long immersive cultural experience. The second, the SVG Screen Tourism Initiative (Set, Value, Grow), seeks to establish the nation as a boutique film destination to attract international productions and create local career opportunities.
The third proposal, the Vincy Artists Cooperative Tourism Framework (Access, Reward, Transform), focuses on integrating local artists into the tourism sector through booking platforms and artiste-in-residence programs to ensure fair compensation.
