Bray Hodgkinson to step down as Baxter soccer club president
Bray Hodgkinson is set to step down as president of the Baxter soccer club at the upcoming Annual General Meeting, concluding a seven-year tenure. Hodgkinson assumed the presidency in November 2019 during a period of significant instability for the club.
Shortly after taking office, the club faced a near $90,000 debt and a mass walkout by its committee members. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Hodgkinson managed the club's operations largely on his own while negotiating repayment schemes for debts owed to Football Victoria, the local council, and suppliers.
The club's financial situation improved significantly following the appointment of Mandy Curd as treasurer in 2021. Through new financial strategies, the club successfully cleared its debts, including those owed to Football Victoria, within approximately one year.
