Brazil 2026 elections feature diverse candidate nicknames
As the 2026 elections approach in two weeks, various candidates across Brazil are utilizing unique campaign nicknames on the electronic ballots. Under regulations from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), candidates are permitted to use a first name, surname, abbreviation, or nickname of up to 30 characters, provided the choice is not considered offensive, ridiculous, or irreverent.
In Paraná, candidates include names such as Boca Aberta, Fubá, Lambe-Lambe, and Ratinho de Colombo. Other notable examples across different states include Plínio Trump in Minas Gerais, Vilmar Rigo (running as Bolsonaro da Shopee) in Mato Grosso do Sul, and Emerson Cruz de Oliveira (running as Zé Ninguém) in Rio de Janeiro.
