Arthur Henrique named PL candidate for Roraima governorship
The Liberal Party (PL) held its state convention at the Centro de Tradições Gaúchas in Boa Vista on 22 October, officially confirming former Boa Vista mayor Arthur Henrique as the party’s candidate for governor of Roraima in the upcoming October elections. Gerlane Baccarin was nominated as his running mate for vice‑governor, a choice announced by Senate candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL‑RJ) via video link.
Arthur Henrique, 44, previously served as municipal secretary of Inclusion Digital and Education, then as vice‑mayor and mayor of Boa Vista, winning re‑election in 2024. He also contested a supplemental gubernatorial election earlier in the year, obtaining the highest vote share (about 60 % of valid votes), though the result remained pending due to legal challenges over his eligibility.
The convention also ratified the PL’s Senate tickets – Hélio Lopes and Nicoletti – and introduced eight federal deputy and 25 state‑deputy candidates, signaling a broad slate for the 2026 ballot. Prominent supporters present included Boa Vista mayor Marcelo Zeitoune, former governor Antonio Denarium, and senator Magno Malta.
