FIFA to release 2027 Women's World Cup schedule and play-off draw
FIFA has announced that the match schedule for the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil will be released on August 20 during an event in Zurich. This announcement will coincide with the official draw for the preliminary phase of the intercontinental play-off tournament.
The play-off tournament, which will determine the final three spots for the 32-team World Cup, will consist of two stages. The first stage, scheduled for November and December 2026, will feature six teams: Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan, South Africa, Ghana, Papua New Guinea, and Ecuador. The two advancing teams will then join four pre-qualified teams in a final stage held between February and March 2027 to decide the remaining three participants.
The 2027 tournament is set to take place from June 24 to July 25 across eight Brazilian cities, including Brasília, Belo Horizonte, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, and São Paulo. Interest in the event is already high, with approximately 750,000 people having registered on the FIFA website to express interest in purchasing tickets.
