Brazil advances coffee sector through technical partnerships and bio-input platforms
In Acre, the Federal University of Acre (Ufac) and Embrapa are discussing technical cooperation agreements to strengthen coffee production in the Juruá Valley. The partnership aims to bridge academic research and local production needs through scientific proposals, technology transfer, and the improvement of the local productive chain. A key initiative under consideration is the establishment of an Embrapa demonstration unit in the Juruá Valley to test high-productivity coffee clones adapted to the regional soil and climate.
Simultaneously, Biotrop, the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), and Embrapii have launched a free digital platform dedicated to biological inputs (bioinsumos) in coffee cultivation. This initiative seeks to address the gap in specialized public information for producers, agronomists, and students. The platform's first release is a digital book featuring studies and articles on management strategies for pests, diseases, nematodes, and bioestimulants, aiming to promote more efficient and sustainable coffee production.
