Brazil advances cultural and social ties with Portuguese-speaking nations

Brazil is advancing initiatives to strengthen ties with Portuguese-speaking nations through cultural and social security measures.

Foreign publishers, including those in Portugal, can apply for the Program to Support the Translation and Publication of Brazilian Authors Abroad. Managed by the National Library Foundation and the Guimarães Rosa Institute, the program offers financial support ranging from US$ 1,000 to US$ 6,000 for new translations and up to US$ 3,000 for re-editions. Applications are open until September 13.

In the social security sector, the Brazilian Senate's Foreign Relations Commission has approved a legislative decree to implement the CPLP Multilateral Social Security Convention. Once ratified by the full Senate, the agreement will allow Brazilian workers to combine social security contributions made in Portugal, Cape Verde, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Mozambique to facilitate retirement. Each participating country will pay the portion of the benefit corresponding to the time contributed within its territory.
