Brazil advances digital connectivity and financial education amid growing Pix usage

In Brazil, the digital transformation is reshaping everyday life. In the state of Acre, internet access has surged from 59.8% of households in 2016 to 90.7% in 2025, reaching roughly 799,000 residents. Broadband coverage and mobile phone use have expanded, positioning connectivity as a core driver of productivity and economic growth.

At the same time, the rapid adoption of the instant‑payment system Pix is prompting a push for early financial literacy. A Senate‑approved bill (PL 2.979/2023) seeks to embed financial‑education topics across primary and secondary curricula, though it still awaits approval in the Chamber of Deputies. Studies show 73% of Brazilian children obtain a first bank card or account before age 15, 28% receive allowances digitally, and nearly half of parents already use Pix to transfer money to their children. These trends highlight Brazil’s shift from merely connecting citizens to leveraging digital tools for education and economic participation.
