ApexBrasil launches panel to map EU export opportunities for Brazilian firms
ApexBrasil, Brazil’s export‑promotion agency, unveiled the “Panel Mercosul‑EU: Opportunities by State” at the Conexões Produtivas event in São Paulo on 26 June. The launch was attended by Vice‑President Geraldo Alckmin and involved the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC) and the Brazilian Industrial Development Agency (ABDI).
The digital tool lists 543 immediate‑tariff‑reduction opportunities for Brazilian exporters in 25 European Union countries, covering sectors such as food products, machinery and equipment, chemicals, manufactured goods and other industrial segments. It is aimed especially at small and medium‑sized enterprises, which currently have limited participation in Brazil‑EU trade.
The EU is Brazil’s second‑largest trading partner, with bilateral trade around US$ 100 billion a year, and accounts for roughly half of foreign direct investment in Brazil. The panel is part of a broader government agenda that will travel to other Brazilian states to help firms capitalize on the Mercosur‑EU agreement, which entered into force in May.
