Brazil agribusiness reaches R$ 3.2 trillion GDP in 2025

Brazil has established itself as a global agricultural powerhouse, with the agribusiness sector's GDP reaching R$ 3.2 trillion in 2025, accounting for 25.1% of the national economy. According to data from the Confederação da Agricultura e Pecuária do Brasil (CNA) and the Centro de Estudos Avançados em Economia Aplicada (Cepea), the sector also reached a record 28.4 million jobs, representing 26.3% of the country's workforce.

In terms of international trade, agribusiness exports totaled US$ 169.1 billion in 2025, making up 48.5% of Brazil's total exports. The sector generated a surplus of approximately US$ 149 billion, which significantly exceeds the overall national trade balance surplus of US$ 68 billion. This surplus helps stabilize the exchange rate and reduce external vulnerability.

Despite this strength, the sector remains dependent on foreign inputs for much of its production. Looking ahead, the Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento (Conab) estimates that the Brazilian grain harvest could reach a record 360.8 million tons during the 2025/26 period.
