Brazil agribusiness rolls out green freight and sweet‑potato biofuel initiatives

Agronelli's Frete Verde program, launched in 2023 with agoFlux, logged the transport of more than 1 million tonnes of agricultural inputs across 8.5 million kilometres in 2025. The initiative measured and neutralised 7,100 tonnes of CO₂e that year – a 36 % increase over 2024 – bringing the three‑year total to over 14,000 tonnes of emissions offset, equivalent to preserving about 2 million trees.

Better Group’s Agropecuária Vista Alegre announced a R$20 million investment to convert sweet‑potatoes, along with bovine waste, into ethanol, biogas and animal feed. The project aims to produce up to 7 million litres of ethanol annually (5 million litres from sweet‑potato fermentation), 7 000 tonnes of animal feed and 7 million m³ of biogas, while supplying renewable energy to its operations and reducing its carbon footprint.
