Brazil Agriculture Commission requests TCU audit on milk imports
The Agriculture, Livestock, Supply, and Rural Development Commission (CAPADR) has approved a proposal requesting the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) to conduct an audit regarding the importation of milk and dairy products into Brazil.
The Fiscalization and Control Proposal (PFC) 5/2026 aims to measure the impact of international acquisitions on the national dairy chain. Pedro Lupion, president of the Parliamentary Agriculture Front (FPA), stated that years of investigation have identified approximately 64% dumping in imported milk, which he claims is harming domestic producers.
The audit will evaluate how federal agencies execute policies surrounding these imports. The approved roadmap includes public hearings with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, the Federal Revenue Service, Anvisa, Embrapa, and Inmetro. Additionally, the TCU will be requested to collect data on import volumes from the last five years and review administrative processes related to economic order infractions in the dairy segment.
