Brazil agriculture: Sugarcane and bean production projections

The Centro-Sul region of Brazil is projected to see significant growth in its sugarcane harvest for the 2026/27 season. According to estimates from Pecege Consultoria e Projetos, the milling volume is expected to reach 640.7 million tons, a 4.83% increase over the 2025/26 cycle. This growth is supported by an increase in average productivity, estimated at 79.32 tons per hectare, up from 74.43 tons per hectare in the previous period.

In the state of Bahia, the agricultural sector is also showing strong performance in bean production. Projections from the Banco do Nordeste's Etene office indicate that Bahia will produce 318,500 tons of beans in the 2025/2026 harvest, representing a 9.5% increase compared to the previous cycle. Despite a reduction in the total area cultivated, the state is expected to maintain its position as the largest bean producer in the Northeast, accounting for approximately 45% of the regional total due to improved efficiency and productivity.
