Brazil airport VIP lounges face expansion and overcrowding

Brazil's airport VIP lounge sector is experiencing both expansion and operational challenges. In Rio de Janeiro, Harmony Lounge, part of the TravelCorp Group, has inaugurated a new unit at Santos Dumont Airport, bringing expertise from its long-standing Manaus operations to the capital.

Simultaneously, Florianópolis Airport is set to welcome a new VIP lounge managed by AMAE Lounge on August 24, marking the Argentine company's first entry into the Brazilian market. This new facility aims to provide an alternative to existing lounges operated by The Lounge group.

However, the industry faces growing congestion. Many premium credit card holders are reporting a collapse in the exclusivity of VIP lounges, citing long queues and overcrowded spaces. Despite meeting high spending requirements for Black or Infinite cards, passengers often find lounges at full capacity, meaning premium benefits no longer guarantee immediate entry or available seating.
