Brazil allocates nearly R$5 bn electoral fund for 2026, Brasília ranks as third‑largest voting district

The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) recorded about 158 million registered voters for Brazil's 2026 elections. Brasília emerges as the third‑largest municipal electorate in the country, after São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, with roughly 2.2 million voters. Within the Federal District, Ceilândia holds the most voters, while Sol Nascente, Pôr do Sol, Taguatinga, Samambaia and other zones together account for more than a third of the district’s electorate.

For the 2026 campaign, the TSE disclosed the allocation of almost R$5 billion from the Special Campaign Funding Fund (FEFC). The Liberal Party (PL) will receive the biggest share at about R$881 million, followed by the Workers' Party (PT) with R$615 million and União Brasil with R$526 million. These three parties will capture roughly 40 % of the total funds, which are distributed based on previous election performance and congressional representation, after a uniform 2 % share for all qualified parties.
