Brazil and China to launch 2026 Cultural Year

Brazil and China will dedicate 2026 to a cultural exchange program titled ‘Brazil-China Cultural Year,’ according to a joint announcement by the Brazilian Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs. The initiative aims to increase mutual understanding, promote artistic expression, and foster partnerships between artists, institutions, and cultural agents from both nations.

Building on the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations celebrated in 2024, the 2026 agenda will cover various sectors, including visual arts, historical heritage, youth projects, professional training, tourism, innovation, and cultural diversity. The program is being coordinated by the Ministries of Culture, Foreign Affairs, and Tourism, alongside various government and private partners to integrate the creative economy.

In Atibaia, São Paulo, the China-Brazil Gallery serves as an example of public and private sector collaboration. Entrepreneur Jun Chen, who manages the space, noted that combining gastronomy, art, and professional meetings creates multiple entry points for the public, stating, “Culture brings people closer even before there is a conversation about business.”
