Brazil and Mozambique advance economic ties through new flights and partnerships

Brazil and Mozambique are working to strengthen economic ties through new logistical and commercial initiatives. Authorities expect to officialize a direct flight route to Maputo in the coming weeks, a move intended to position Mozambique as a strategic hub for the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and facilitate easier access for Brazilian companies.

During the 61st Maputo International Trade Fair (FACIM), where Brazil is the guest of honor, business leaders and public institutions met to discuss transforming long-standing diplomatic relations into large-scale economic partnerships. Following a visit by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in late 2025, there is an increased focus on investment, technology transfer, and local industrialization.

A Brazilian delegation, including over 30 companies and startups, is exploring sectors such as health, information technology, port logistics, agriculture, and agro-industry. Specifically, there is interest in establishing local production capacities in Mozambique for medicines and vaccines, moving beyond a simple export-based relationship to foster sustainable local development.
