Mozambique‑Portugal cooperation investment youth and technology health partnership credit line

Mozambique President Daniel Chapo began a four‑day official visit to Portugal, meeting President António José Seguro and Prime Minister Luís Montenegro. The agenda focused on strengthening bilateral ties, attracting Portuguese investment and expanding collaboration in health, science, technology and youth development.

During the Eur‑African Forum, the leaders highlighted the creation of the Ministry of Communications and Digital Transformation in Maputo and the launch of Mozambique’s School of Public Health, calling it a historic step for joint health training and vaccine production. Chapo emphasized that “the future belongs to the youth, science, technology and knowledge”. Portuguese President Seguro praised Mozambique’s stable investment climate and urged resolution of the Galp fiscal dispute through dialogue.

Both sides also discussed climate‑resilient infrastructure, the role of the Community of Portuguese‑Speaking Countries, and the potential for a €500 million credit line to boost trade. The visit aims to convert historic friendship into concrete economic partnerships across agriculture, tourism, energy and digital innovation.
