In Brazil, a RealTime Big Data poll released on 21 April showed strong public backing for chemical castration of convicted sexual offenders. Sixty‑three percent of respondents rated the measure “very important,” and 80 % expressed overall support. Backing was highest among conservative voters—82 % of those favoring Ronaldo Caiado and around 79 % of Bolsonaro supporters—while support fell to 45 % among Lula supporters. Chemical castration involves medication that suppresses libido; it remains under debate in Congress with no legislation passed, but the poll suggests it could reappear in the 2026 electoral discourse.
