Brazil and Portugal outline minimum‑wage hikes through 2030

Brazil's federal government, through the draft budget guidelines (PLDO), projects the national minimum wage to rise gradually, reaching about 2,020 reais by 2030. The plan calls for roughly 5% annual adjustments, combining inflation replacement with a modest real gain. The current floor stands at 1,621 reais, with the 2027 projection set at 1,717 reais, while 2028 and 2029 are slated for 1,812 and 1,913 reais respectively.

In Portugal, the Labour Minister reiterated the government's commitment to honor the 2027 minimum‑wage agreement at 970 euros, saying no further increase is being considered beyond the negotiated figure. The social‑partner agreement foresees the wage reaching 1,020 euros by 2028, and the ruling party has pledged a rise to 1,100 euros by 2029, which would require an additional 80‑euro increase beyond the current schedule.
