Brazil and UK exchange health technology price negotiation models

Representatives from the Brazilian Ministry of Health and the United Kingdom’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) met in Brasília to discuss price negotiation models and technology incorporation.

The workshop aimed to explore how price negotiations can optimize Health Technology Assessment (HTA). In the UK, NICE analyzes the clinical and economic value of technologies to guide commercial agreements. Brazil’s Conitec currently evaluates efficacy, safety, cost-effectiveness, and budgetary impact to inform decisions for the Unified Health System (SUS).

The exchange of expertise seeks to enhance the use of technical data in price setting, particularly for the recently established SUS price negotiation committee. Participants engaged in practical simulations to improve the Ministry of Health’s ongoing actions in the sector.
