Brazil Announces Major Cultural Exhibitions and Film Showcases

The Ministry of Health’s Cultural Center in Rio de Janeiro opened the free exhibition “Vida Reinventada – A Pandemia de Covid‑19 e a Transformação do Futuro,” curated by former health minister Nísia Trindade. The exhibit runs from 1 July 2026 to April 2027, operating Tuesdays to Saturdays and featuring documents, testimonies, videos and interactive installations that reflect on the COVID‑19 crisis and future preparedness.

The Cinemateca Brasileira launched a free online and in‑person programme titled “Cinema Brasileiro no Século XXI,” presenting 22 Brazilian films released between 2001 and 2020, alongside a four‑session course and panel discussions on distribution and regulatory changes. Screenings will be adjusted on days when the national football team plays in the 2026 World Cup.

Meanwhile, the Cinemateca de Curitiba partnered with the national Cinemateca for the itinerant showcase “Cinemateca É Brasileira – Da Comédia ao Drama,” running from 2 July to 26 July with free daily screenings of 23 classic and contemporary Brazilian titles, including works such as “Que Horas Ela Volta?” and “O Menino e o Mundo.”
