Brazil's ANP to study Gas Release program and infrastructure access after ABPIP request

The Brazilian Association of Independent Oil and Gas Producers (Abpip) sent a formal request to the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) for a meeting to support a technical study on the Gas Release program and on non‑discriminatory third‑party access to gas‑sector infrastructure. The association said the study aims to "contribute constructively to improve the regulatory environment" and to identify analytical gaps, regulatory challenges and priorities for upcoming public consultations.

The Gas Release program, established by the Gas Law, seeks to accelerate the entry and expansion of marketers in firm non‑thermal demand. ANP has already published results of a questionnaire on the program’s design and expects to launch a public consultation process by the end of July. Parallelly, ABPIP highlighted pending regulatory actions concerning access to LNG terminals, pipelines and gas‑processing facilities.

ANP scheduled its Board meeting (session 1.186) for 10 July 2026, to be streamed live, where decisions affecting the oil, gas and biofuel sectors—including the topics raised by ABPIP—will be deliberated.
